Young Parents Access Program Requests
The Young Parents Access Program (YPAP) aims to support young and expecting parents in continuing their education, through the provision of onsite childcare and the employment of Parent Support Workers.
The program supports young parents and their families by offering a flexible program where young parents can complete their senior school education and gain access to tertiary education, further training or employment.
Although the school has a range of funding to provide for students needs, the YPAP students have significantly more responsibilities and their financial capabilities are stretched. The program seeks support for a range activities, learning and equipment.
Many businesses have supported the annual young parent’s camp and this year we are requesting different levels of support to the program.
Requests:
Can you teach basic computer skills?
The YPAP program is being fitted out with new computers and programs but does not have the capacity to provide a professional level of instruction on basic Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs. Instructors are needed to provide for practical use of the programs. The commitment required is a single block of 2 hours per week over 8 weeks - a total of 16 hours. The day of the week has not yet been selected but will commence second term and from 2.45 – 4.45pm each session.
Scientific Calculators – Casio 330 Classpad 23605
A necessary piece of equipment required to complete VCE but one which is expensive to young parents. The request is for funds to purchase up to 5 scientific calculators which cost about $210 each. If you can either supply the calculators or provide funds for any number from 1 to 5, the donation will be greatly appreciated, giving a young parent an increased chance to better their future. The calculators will be loaned to students.
A vacuum cleaner
Although the school is cleaned on a regular basis, the YPAP rooms need cleaning more often and would benefit from the donation of a vacuum cleaner. It needs to be in good order but not necessarily new.
