To celebrate National Volunteer Week this week, Karingal will hold an event for more than 100 generous volunteers and their families on Wednesday (May 11) at the National Wool Museum in a bid to say ‘thank you’.

Airshow invaluable for WorkLinks students

WorkLinks participants enjoyed a great experience at the Avalon Airshow in February.
The group assisted the Geelong Lions Club to provide vital car park management for the thousands of people attending the international event. \

Survey reveals respite need is growing

More than 80 Karingal participants and carers took part in a state-wide survey, which revealed a greater need for respite services.
This survey was developed by National Disability Services Victoria and the Department of Human Services as part of a respite use and demand project.
Karingal Community Living Service Development Manager Meg Parsons said while those surveyed were happy with the quality of respite offered by Karingal, they clearly stated they wanted more.

Brian gets stuck into new role

WorkLinks participant Brian Finlay has always wanted to work in a panel beating shop, and he has truly embraced his chance.
WorkLinks staff assisted Brian by introducing him to The Geelong Collision Centre General Manager Frank D’Andrea.
Brian began a work trial last year, with the assistance of Karingal’s Disability Employment Services provider, MatchWorks.
