Great year passed and ahead for Karingal

Karingal’s 57th Annual General Meeting highlighted a very exciting journey for the organisation over the past year and many exciting projects to come.
Karingal Chair Rod Payne, addressing over 100 guests at the November 12 AGM, said the organisation had experienced a great year.
Rod said highlights included the opening of six new MatchWorks sites across Melbourne and country Victoria, the celebration of Kommercial’s 50th anniversary and the holding of Karnivale and KarnivART events, for the first time this year.
The acquisition of Disability Opportunities Victoria (DOV) across the bay on the Mornington Peninsula was also a big step for the organisation, Rod said, along with the opening of McIntyre, Karingal’s $1.4 million accessible residential project.
Looking ahead to 2010, Rod said the construction of Barwarre Gardens, a state of the art retirement village at Marshall and Amunsden Street, a supported accommodation residence for young people with high-care needs, were both projects to look forward to.
“The obstacles we have overcome, the path that has been forged for the future and the fact that we are, on the whole, achieving our ultimate goal of supporting and improving the lives of people with disabilities, is a testament to the hard work and effort put in by the people who work in varying capacities across Karingal,” Rod said.
Chief Financial Officer Lyndelle Zuccolin reported that Karingal had experienced another year of solid growth, taking yet another step forward in achieving long-term financial sustainability.
David McArthur is now the new Chair of Karingal.
