Karalee beyond reproach
04 May 2009
Karingal’s Karalee aged care home is clean, well-maintained and exudes a homely feel that makes people feel relaxed and welcome, according to a recent audit.
The comprehensive audit in early February took place over two full days as part of the state-regulated nursing home accreditation process.
A total of 44 standards must be reached for nursing homes to gain, or maintain, industry accreditation, with auditors assessing management systems, continuous improvement, the lifestyle of residents, safe systems and the physical environment.
All Karalee staff and residents were interviewed as part of the accreditation process, as were residents’ family members.
Karalee not only passed all 44 areas, assuring accreditation for the next three years, but was commended on its high maintenance standards, cleanliness and cheerful, homely
Karalee manager Jan Bromley said feedback from residents and families was all positive, with no suggestions for improvements.
Residents commented they liked the team work displayed by Karalee staff and
felt they could approach staff members at any time.
