Karingal KarnivART '10

The official launch of KarnivART 2010 was held on Friday 26th March at Kardinia House, Belmont in front of a crowd of approximately 65 people.

The event was officially opened by acclaimed artist Jamie Daddo (appearing courtesy of the Green-Wood Gallery) and featured works by artists with a disability or mental illness from Geelong, Barwon south west and southern metropolitan regions of Victoria. The exhibition aims to give the featured artists a chance to showcase their amazing works to the community.

The winning piece, Masquerade, was chosen by judges Jamie Daddo (acclaimed artist), Melinda Flood (Program and Service Advisor, Disability Partnerships, Barwon-South/Western Region) Brian Hubber (former curator at Geelong Gallery) and Ken Marchingo (CEO, Loddon Mallee Housing Services).

Masquerade artist Sian Morgan won a $1000 prize, generously donated by Loddon Mallee Housing Services. $500.00 was awarded to Sian for the purchase of the work and $500.00 is to further her artistic endeavours.

A total of 17 of the 50 featured pieces were purchased by attendees at KarnivART and Karingal Karnivalè.
