New Board member for Karingal
19 April 2010
The Karingal Board of Directors welcomed Kylie Cirak to its ranks recently following the retirement of John McCall, who had served for more than eight years.
For the past nine years Ms Cirak has worked for Alcoa in community relations roles, most recently as National Partnerships Manager.
This role involved sourcing, brokering and managing corporate community partnerships, managing Alcoa’s national employee volunteering programs, and working with the global philanthropic trust, the Alcoa Foundation, to secure funding for Australian community groups.
It was Alcoa’s long partnership with Karingal which first sparked Ms Cirak’s interest in the role and made her also want to contribute with her skills.
“I understood what Karingal did before this Board position came up and what has always impressed me is what an innovative organisation Karingal is.
“It’s not an organisation that goes around looking for handouts. It’s always thinking of ways to be innovative to support clients.
“I think it is that progressiveness, the ‘can do’ attitude and positive outlook which is really impressive.”
Ms Cirak has now left Alcoa and is working from home as a consultant and caring for her two young children.
She will fill the casual vacancy on the Board until the Karingal AGM in November this year.
