Residents loving life in Hastings
14 November 2011
The opening of a new house for six people with disabilities with aging carers has been a major highlight for Karingal Konnections this year.
All six residents have now settled in to the beautiful home, located near all major conveniences in Hastings including the local shopping complex, pool, library, church and public transport amenities.
A house warming for the new residents and their families was held late in July. Over 40 people attended which was a great way for residents and families to get to know each other. Also in attendance was Marjorie Ross, Vice Chair of the Frankston Peninsula Carers Group, Sharon Brookes DHS and Robyn Bradshaw, Karingal Life Options General Manager.
Team Leader Cris Bernandes said: “Everyone was very impressed with the design of the house and the new furnishings.”
New resident Christine Ivanoff said she was enjoying living at her new house.
“It’s great here, everyone is really nice and we get along really well. The best bit is that we all have a night when we get to pick what we cook for dinner.”
Residents are currently being consulted about a name for the residence, which will be officially opened next year.
