Rice Village residents keen to raise cash

16 August 2010

The residents of Rice Village at Marshall have joined forces to set up an appeal to raise funds for a specialised massage/exercise table for young adults with disabilities who have moved out of nursing homes to become residents of Karingal.

Organiser and Rice Village resident Bill Humphreys, 82, said he was inspired to organise the appeal after a conversation with former Karingal senior manager Brian Donovan.

"I just wanted to do something that would help these young adults with disabilities who are moving out of nursing homes," Bill said.

It was suggested that the exercise/massage table would be ideal for the residents who will be moving into the specially-designed Amundsen Street property later this year.

The appeal was launched in June and already more than $1600 of the $3696 needed, has been raised.
