Upgrades at Konnections well underway
16 August 2010
Facilities at Konnections are currently being upgraded in a bid to increase accessibility and enhance the overall appearance and amenities of buildings.
Konnections manager Sonia Berton said 12 news buses had replaced old vehicles, and the hospitality work skills kitchen at McDowell Street, Rosebud was upgraded in early July with two new commercial stoves, stainless steel benches and flooring installed.
Participants interested in music have also received a boost with the purchase of new equipment. Along with that the music room and the drama program have been relocated to Torca Terrace in Mornington in a bid to provide better facilities and improved client and staff support.
Preliminary drawings for a new property at 27 Leon Avenue are completed and are currently being reviewed.
"They will also be made available to Konnections participants, carers, parents and staff once the first draft has been completed and feedback on the proposal will be welcomed," Sonia said.
In the next six to nine months consultation on the relocation of programs to Frankston will commence.
"This is a great opportunity for clients who live in Frankston because it will reduce their travel times by up to three hours a day," Sonia said.
"Other projects will also begin, including upgrades to Connor Street Respite.
"This is a very exciting time for Konnections and we look forward to these projects coming to fruition," Sonia said.
